Gang Education Seminar

Aimed to empower those with connections to youth, this seminar provides crucial information about the current gang situation in our community, along with strategies to reduce the risk of harm to our youth.

Topics include:
- Local gang-related activity
- Gang recruitment tactics
- Identifying early risk factors in youth
- Trends in social media and substance use
- Community-based supports

Pro-D Camps

Engineering for Kids (8-13 years)
Gear up for a thrilling day of adventure! Step into the virtual world of Minecraft and conquer engineering challenges with your awesome teamwork and ingenious ideas. But wait, there's more! In the afternoon, get ready to unleash your inner speedster as we build and race our own dragsters. Let's rev up those engines and race to victory!

Horseback Riding Camp (6-14 years)
Enhance confidence, balance, and coordination atop the back of a gentle, well-trained horse. Enjoy the experience while gaining a profound appreciation for these incredible animals. Engaging in horseback riding not only promotes fitness but also provides a delightful outdoor setting for the journey.

Active Play (6-11 years)
Join us for a day of high-energy fun, playing sports, and staying active! It's the perfect way to make your day off both enjoyable and health-conscious.

Spring Break Camps

Time off of school means exploring, fun and activity in WSPR's spring break camps!

Nature Preschool Camp (3-5 years)
Utilizing the beautiful and varied 109 acres at WSPR, this is an all-outdoors, all-weather nature program. Child-led daily adventures in nature, artistic expression and imaginative play will help children explore and deepen their understanding of the natural world and their place within it.  

Soccertron (6-9 / 10-14 years)
Soccertron’s enthusiastic and professionally trained coaches focus on motivating young players by creatively introducing soccer skill development.

Richardson Sport (6-9 years)
Richardson Sport Programs are introductory multi-sport and sport-specific programs designed to introduce children to fundamental skills in a positive and fun environment. All programs are taught by Richardson Sport instructors.

PowerWest Spring Break Camp (5-7 / 8-10 / 11-14 years)
We want you to be the best skater you can be! PowerWest Athletics (PWA) programs emphasize correct technical skating including stride development, agility, speed, balance, quickness, and readiness through the effective use of edges.

Byte Camp (9-12 years)
Discover how much fun it is to build your own game! Students will be introduced to basic coding skills with easy to use drag-and-drop software, and get to use those skills to make their very own games. Students will also learn how to create their own 2D vector artwork to make characters and levels that are entirely their own. The final project is a game that you can access and play or proudly share with friends online.

Dark Horse Athletic

Mondays: 5:30-6:45PM
$165/6 weeks

Get ready to ignite your child's athletic journey with training from world-class athletes! West Shore Parks & Recreation proudly welcomes Dark Horse Athletic to our lineup of kids' sports programs, and we are bursting with excitement about this partnership.

Dark Horse's training programs are all about empowering young athletes aged 6-11 by enhancing their physical literacy skills, boosting their confidence, and, most importantly, ensuring they have a blast along the way.

So, who is Dark Horse, and what makes them great? Watch their video to find out, then sign up to secure your spot, and let the games begin!

 

THE SHORE

Drop-in Youth Art Night and Dance Night at Centennial Centre

The Shore, JDF's youth drop-in space, has expanded to Centennial Centre! Art, dance, movement, games, snacks and hangouts are await the creative youth of the Westshore. Hosted by youth staff, The Shore is a safe haven for youth to come and just be themselves.

Do you love to paint, sculpt, print, sew, or draw? Then join us in the art studio for our new Thursday night youth drop in where a variety of art materials will be provided for an evening of creative art making.

DANCE & MOVEMENT DROP-IN
Thursdays, 6:15-7:15PM
Oak Room (Centennial Centre - 2805 Carlow Rd.)

Join our dance instructor on Thursdays to learn some new moves, participate in movement games and listen to some great tunes! Not ready to dance yet? We will have bracelet making available as well.

YOUTH SPACE DROP-IN
Thursdays, 3:45-7:15PM
Centennial Centre - 2805 Carlow Rd.

The youth space at Centennial Centre will be open from 3:45-7:15PM on Thursdays with snacks and games. Come hang out!


Daycare Dives In!

The kiddos in WSPR's daycare have launched into swim lessons! The kids had a blast during their first lessons, making a splash with our fantastic instructor team. A big thank you goes out to the childcare team and instructors for making swim lessons possible - and so fun! - for Westshore's little ones.

Annual Pool Closure

March 29-April 16 marks this year's annual pool closure. WSPR memberships will be accepted at the municipal recreation centres of Greater Victoria. Please contact the respective centre directly for inquiries and program times.

In addition to the heavy-duty efforts of the maintenance team on deep cleaning, paint and repairs, you can expect to find the river run back in action, and new lane ropes.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the pool on April 17!
